I’m headed to Cali…

Dear Friends and Family,

First let me start by saying, words don’t begin express just how thankful I am for the news I’m about to share. God continues to move in my life and open up doors that I didn’t even think we’re available. Admittedly the road hasn’t been an easy one but I have learned so much in the past few years that the transgressions only remind me of just how great God’s timing is.

logoWith that said here goes! I’m going back to Cali (some theme music), San Francisco to be exact! No I’m not going for the women, w33d or weather (Kendrick Lamar – The Recipe), rather something much more constructive! I’m going to participate in the NewME Accelerator’s (think CNN’s Black in America 4) 2013 Spring Cycle. I’ll be there for 12 weeks and I can’t begin to tell you how excited I am to have a few months in The Valley to immerse myself in the entrepreneur ecosystem. As part of the accelerator I’ll be working on my product, SoClick! SoClick is an advertising platform that connects social brands to influencers and you can read more about it here.

Of course if you know me I can’t go out to California without some objectives, so here they are.

JUSTIN’S NewME OBJECTIVES:

  • Share with the community my vision for SoClick
  • Build a great product that people will love
  • Learn to better navigate the Valley’s startup ecosystem
  • Network, network and network some more
  • Return to Atlanta with valuable insights to share with the Atlanta startup ecosystem
  • Enjoy the weather

Of course with every opportunity comes a cost and that’s one of the reasons I created this page. Focus is going to be key to maximizing this opportunity and honestly as much as I’m committed to this journey in my heart, I have to also think logically and reasonably. In order to truly be able to focus I have to shuffle my priorities and put my beloved marketing agency on simmer. No this doesn’t mean everything comes to a halt, I have a great team to make sure the ship stays the course. However, that does mean that my income during this time will be reduced significantly. Additionally, I will incur some additional expenses living in San Francisco as the program covers housing and most business needs but does not cover travel. To help soften the financial blow I’m asking friends and family to donate whatever they can. I know times are still tough so I’m not asking anyone to stretch beyond their means but if you find it in your heart to give, it would be greatly appreciated.

The fastest and quickest way is to donate via Paypal.

Alternatively you may mail checks (please make them out to Justin Dawkins) to

I want to thank you in advance for your continued support, thoughts, gifts and prayers and it is my promise to not let you down!

Thanks, peace and blessings,
Justin, Founder SoClick
